The department, which was established on March 1, 1985, has grown from 17 paramedics to 20 full-time, 3 part time and 9 PRN paramedics, along with 2 PRN EMTs. In our early days, we averaged 5,500 emergency responses per year using two transport units. Today, we average 11,000 emergency responses a year, using 2 transport ambulances and 3 aide cars. All this, and our first due local is a mere 7.62 square miles! In addition, we provide mutual aide to the surrounding communities.
All of our members have specialized training in the medical management of hazardous material casualties, and hold certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
