Crozer-Chester Medical Center is the only hospital in Delaware and Chester counties that has the staff, expertise, facilities and technologies to handle any type of advanced medical emergency. In addition to traditional emergency patients, Crozer can treat patients who suffer serious traumas and burns.
The Crozer Emergency Department, the Crozer Regional Trauma Center and the Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center all within the same medical center. That’s the Crozer “ER3” concept.
Crozer Regional Trauma Center
Crozer’s Emergency Department is home to the Crozer Regional Trauma Center, the only trauma center in Delaware County. The Regional Level II Trauma Center features a dedicated team of trauma surgeons, certified nurse practitioners, Operating Room staff and Shock/Trauma Unit staff that provides care to victims of trauma and burn emergencies. Orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and many others are always available to help treat our most critically injured patients.
The Trauma Center facilities within Crozer’s ER are designed to make every minute count for patients in crisis. We’ve doubled the number of trauma treatment rooms and put them in a dedicated self-contained area with advanced technology and equipment necessary for life-saving efforts. In addition, a helipad with direct access to the Trauma Center enables pre-hospital care providers to save precious minutes in transporting patients from helicopter to trauma bay.
Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center
The experienced professionals of the Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center at Crozer provide specialized burn treatment and care. With over 30 years as a leader in burn care, the Burn Treatment Center is the Delaware Valley’s largest multidisciplinary burn facility and the only such facility in suburban Philadelphia that provides all the services needed to meet the needs of burn patients and their families within a single unit – from emergency treatment and intensive care to rehabilitation and follow-up and outpatient care.
Our multidisciplinary Burn Treatment Team includes physicians and surgeons, plastic surgeons, pediatric specialists, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, pharmacists, nutritionists, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, clinical educators and other health care professionals.
Our nationally recognized Burn Treatment Center was the first in Pennsylvania to be awarded verification by the American College of Surgeons for optimal care of adult and pediatric burn patients, and it was also the first in the Delaware Valley to meet the criteria of the American Burn Association’s Burn Center Certification/Consultation Program. Patients are brought to campus via helicopter and ambulance.
