What is the policy on visitors?
For safety reasons, the ER staff must limit the number of family members or friends who accompany an adult patient. Patients who are in treatment rooms are permitted to have two visitors at a time, while patients who are in non-treatment areas are permitted to have one visitor. Pediatric patients must have a parent or guardian stay with them at all times. A guardian or companion may be required to stay with an adult patient who has altered cognitive function and, therefore, would be better served by having a guardian present. This is determined by the ER staff.
There may be times when the ER physician or nurse needs privacy with the patient. In this instance, the visitor may be asked to return to the waiting area for a short time.
The ER’s first priority remains attending to the medical needs of patients and making it possible for the ER staff to provide prompt and appropriate care at all times, without delay. If the patient is admitted, there are specific visiting hours for each unit.
Where can I park when I come to the Emergency Department?
Parking is available in the Upland Avenue Garage adjacent to the Emergency Department. To enhance security and shield patients and visitors from inclement weather, the walkway from the new ER outpatient entrance to the garage entrance is enclosed.
Valet parking is also available outside the new ER outpatient entrance, Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Additional garage parking is available in two garages on Medical Center Boulevard, and a limited amount of on-street parking is available near the ER.
The Patient Access Check-Out office covers the cost of parking for patients while they are in our Emergency Department. A parking pass will be provided to you upon check out.
How do I pick up my X-rays?
Films are available through the Radiology Department. Call (610) 447-2590 to make arrangements for pick up.
