The Crozer-Keystone Village: A comprehensive resource for active adults over age 50, their parents and dependent adult children

Have you heard about the Crozer-Keystone Village? The newest offering from the Senior Health Services department, this initiative was designed with “Active Boomers” in mind. Our simple goal? To provide access to reliable resources to meet our members’ health care needs as well as many other personal daily living needs. If you need someone to schedule medical appointments and interpret medical bills and claim forms; remind you when it’s time for a flu shot, mammogram and other annual appointments; run errands; provide you with prepared meals or arrange for you to have a massage, facial or manicure, then contact us today!

As a member of the Crozer-Keystone Village, you and three members of your family over the age of 50 (or dependent children over 18) can access these and many other valuable services through the assistance of our Village Navigator. Most of these services will be offered at a discounted rate.

For pricing information and a membership packet, call 1-800-CKHS-KEY (1-800-254-7539). Crozer-Keystone is the first and only health system in the country to offer a Village program to its community. Life just got easier.

HomeCare Programs Achieve ‘Elite’ Status

Home care professionals from Delaware County Memorial Hospital and Taylor Hospital have once again been named to the 2008 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the most successful Medicare certified home health care providers in the United States. This is the third year that DCMH has achieved this honor, and the second year that Taylor has been included on this list.

HomeCare is a hospital-based home health care program that may shorten or eliminate the need for an inpatient hospital stay, help the patient delay or avoid nursing home placement, or avoid re-hospitalization. Compared with national averages, CKHS home care teams achieved better outcomes in several measures, including rehospitalization, use of emergent care, acute care hospitalization, discharge to the community and management of oral medications.

Chester Upland, Crozer-Keystone Celebrate Opening of the Smedley High School for Health Careers

The new Smedley High School for Health Careers, 1701 Upland Street in Chester, is dedicated to preparing and motivating students to pursue further education toward a career in the medical sciences. The school opened this fall with approximately 100 ninth grade students. In addition to classroom-based learning, student will have the opportunity to participate in internships and mentoring programs at Crozer-Keystone hospitals.

The opening of the new school was celebrated on Dec. 2. The event was attended by representatives of the Chester Upland School District and Crozer-Keystone Health System, who worked together to launch the school.
