FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 2006

The Healthplex Sports Club, Crozer-Keystone Health System and Good to Go Delivery have combined to create a unique program that hopes to teach members of our community how a healthy and fit lifestyle can change their lives. “A New You” will give five selected participants the opportunity to achieve greater personal health, fitness and well-being over a 12-week period. Participants will achieve these changes through a free, comprehensive program that includes supervised exercise, healthy eating and relaxation.

If chosen to take part in “A New You,” participants will receive the following from these organizational partners:

  • The HealthplexÒ Sports Club will provide a three-month all-inclusive club membership as well as three months of personal training from one of the club’s experienced and certified trainers.
  • Good to Go Delivery, based in New Castle, Del., will provide participants with the ultimate healthy eating experience. It will include three healthy gourmet meals and two snacks freshly prepared and delivered to their doorsteps each day for three months.
  • The Center for Occupational Health at Springfield Hospital will give participants a full physical examination, dietary analysis (including glucose/cholesterol screenings) and biometrics (body composition analysis). Periodic assessments will be held throughout the program.
  • The Spa at the Healthplex will provide monthly facials and massages to help participants relax and improve their performance during the program.

The participants will be monitored throughout the program in several key areas, such as weight, body mass index, waist size, cholesterol, glucose, triglycerides and more. The person who makes the greatest improvement in their overall health by the contest’s end on Jan. 4 will be awarded a free one-year membership to the HealthplexÒ Sports Club and other prizes.

We are looking for outgoing, energetic men and women who want to change their weight, their health and their lives,” says Jim Gallagher, general manager of the Healthplex® Sports Club. “Contestants must have the motivation, drive and ability to be a role model and inspiration to others. You must also be over 21 and a resident of Delaware County.”

The deadline for submitting an application to be part of the program is Sept. 27. You can download, print and complete the application.  Those interested in being considered for participation can also pick up a form at the Healthplex® Sports Club, 194 W. Sproul Rd. in Springfield, or call 610-328-8888 to have one sent to you.

A final qualifying event will be held at the club on Oct. 5. Based on applications and phone interviews, a select number of those applying for the program will be invited to this event. The candidates will have another round of interviews at this event, and the participants will be chosen. The contest will begin on Oct. 12 and end on Jan. 4.
